Businessman and civic leader Steve Soboroff has served the Los Angeles community his entire adult life. Steve is Chairman of the Board of The Weingart Foundation, a major philanthropic institution serving the needs of Southern California, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Friends Of EXPO Center, one the largest urban community recreation facilities in the United States, Senior Advisor to the California Science Center/NASA project that will relocate the Space Shuttle Endeavour to a permanent museum in Exposition Park, and Chairman of the ParksSave campaign to preserve funding for Los Angeles parks.
Steve is also the Chairperson of the Leavey Center for the Study of Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University, Senior Fellow and member of the Advisory Board at the UCLA School of Public Affairs, member of the Board of Councillors at the USC School of Planning and Public Policy, and Chairman of the Committee of 18 for the 2013 Maccabiah World Games in Israel.Steve was Vice Chairman of the Los Angeles Dodgers, CEO and President of Playa Vista, President of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Commission, President of the Los Angeles Harbor Commission, Chairman Emeritus and President of Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles, Chairman of the Proposition BB $2.4 billion LAUSD school bond oversight committee for construction of new schools and the repair and modernization of existing schools, and Senior Advisor to Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan.
Steve has long been known as a business leader and public servant who brings people together to get positive results, and has a strong track record for creating, improving and protecting open space and parkland for city residents.
