Two aspects that make our school a special place: |
Welby Way holds high expectations for all students in a rigorous, exciting program.Through collaboration and planning, strategies are developed to provide meaningful learning opportunities for students. Not only do Welby Way teachers have high expectations for students, they work diligently to participate in extensive professional development related to differentiated instruction, best practices and innovative teaching.
Welby Way staff and teachers have a strong collaborative relationship with the school's parent group.Together, everyone works to ensure that the common vision of Welby Way is nurtured and maintained.POWW,Parents of Welby Way,our parent group, works tirelessly to nurture and maintain the community culture that is felt immediately as one enters our campus.Hundreds of parent volunteers participate yearly in the classrooms and on special fundraisers, as well as "fun raisers", to ensure that their children have the best possible elementary years.
All stakeholders associated with Welby Way hope to provide our students with wonderful memories, fulfilling experiences, and the foundation which will make them successful, caring adults in the future. |
How will this cash grant directly benefit the students at your school? |
For many years, our parents have worked tirelessly to provide the many extras which the school district has not been able to provide for our students due to budget cuts. They have provided funds for ballroom dance instruction, PE coaches, an extra music teacher, field trips fees for students unable to provide the funds and money for teachers to attend conferences. These funds enable our students to have a well, rounded education. |
What are the biggest challenges in running your school, and how will you overcome them? |
The biggest challenge in running Welby Way is to provide our 808 children with the best we possibly can give them with our limited funds. Again, as a community we identify these challenges and work together to overcome them. As a team, we have seen that all of our hard work has come to fruition, as we realize that our students are succeeding. |
