Two aspects that make our school a special place: |
AES is a global awareness magnet with a focus on environmental awareness. (1) Because we are a small school, our community is very intimate and supportive of one another. Our principal and support staff know each and every student's name. This allows for all students to feel special which improves academic and social success. (2) We have a very active PTA engaged in providing enrichment experiences for our students to supplement the meager funds provided by the district and state. |
How will this cash grant directly benefit the students at your school? |
The AES PTA is currently financing a pilot computer and it program for ALL students and are finding it to be very successful. In order to continue this program next year, we will need significant financial support. |
What are the biggest challenges in running your school, and how will you overcome them? |
One of the challenges we face is funding. Although we are located in Encino, as a magnet school our population is very socioeconomically diverse. Unlike the other schools in our area, we are not able to raise as much money through donations because our families do not have the financial means. All students deserve computer and IT opportunities despite their socioeconomic status. Thank you very much for your consideration and for giving back to our community. We appreciate you. |
