| How will this cash grant directly benefit the students at your school? |
Our school needs books. Novels and engaging informational texts to help us as we transition towards the Common Core State Standards. Our teachers need to update their classroom libraries to support our literacy goals. The Common Core State Standards remind us that ALL teachers are teachers of language and that we need to diversify the texts we provide our scholars. |
| What are the biggest challenges in running your school, and how will you overcome them? |
One of the biggest challenges facing our school is that we don't have funds available to continue offering some of our programs. The budget cuts have led to increased class sizes and counselor to student ratios. We will overcome these challenges by continuing to work with the community, as well as seeking donations and partnerships when possible. |
