The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Woodland Hills works hard to celebrate more birthdays. The relay will be held on April 5-6, 2014 at Pierce College. Relay For Life is a 24 hour community event that celebrates cancer survivors, remembers those we lost to cancer and pledges to fight back by raising awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society. We are looking for people to form teams and join us in the fight against cancer. Bring the whole family for fun, food, entertainment and a special kids area. April 5-6 at Pierce College from 9am-9am.

This will be an interactive workshop will be interactive.  Participants should bring the following two things:

1. Two book ideas or an overview of a book-in-progress;
2. A table-of-contents of one of one book idea, 10 to 12 chapters

We’ll discuss:

• What if somebody steals my idea? (and why you shouldn’t worry about it)
• Overview of the stats  re: books published each year;
• What’s your competition?
• How to search Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Powell Books, and the Indie Bookstores to see if your book idea has already been done;
• How to tweak your idea to stand out from the rest;
• What about titles and subtitles?
• If there’s already a book on “your” topic, and it’s a best-seller, is that good or bad?
• Looking at your audience (obvious and unexpected audiences);
• Naming your niche realistically;
• Braining-storming your book idea and angle in depth (time permitting);
• Why you should start with a table-of-contents;
• How much research do you need to do first and what kind?

Sylvia Cary, LMFT, who just won the ‘GOLD” in the Dan Poynter Global E-book Awards, is a psychotherapist, book consultant, publisher (Timberlake Press), and the author of five books. Her latest is The Therapist Writer: Helping Mental Health Professionals Get Published (Amazon.com, BN.com & Kindle),  which was also named a winner in the 2013 Beverly Hills Book Awards and Finalist in the 2013 National Indie Excellence Awards (NIEA).

Paula Thompson is an expert on how individuals manage their careers to achieve desired professional outcomes.  As a coach, she works with high-performing individuals to accomplish their next level of success.  Paula conducts research on the internal – and often hidden – aspects of workplace performance and the application of positive psychology at work.  Paula has her doctorate from Pepperdine University, her master’s from the University of California, Los Angeles and her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

Sharon Liu, MPH, MBA, EdD, Consultant

Sharon Liu has been a consultant for over 20 years in Health Sciences Software applications focusing on the training and implementation of these applications. Change management techniques are used to facilitate the IT changes. Sharon’s research interest is how neuroscience can help explain the ills of social stress and promising methods to lessen the adverse effects.  Sharon has an MBA and EdD from Pepperdine University in Organization Change and has presented her work internationally.

This dynamic workshop focuses on increasing your abundance to ensure prosperity.

Offered in 6 parts, with each part offering a specific key to your abundance; you may choose to delve into the entire series or participate in one or more of the workshop keys.
